⚠️ Photo & Hair Image Data Processing
This section explains exactly how we handle your photos in compliance with privacy regulations and Apple App Store requirements.
What Image Data We Process
Temporary Image Processing Only: When you voluntarily upload or capture a photo for hair analysis, we temporarily process the image to extract visual features such as hair texture, curl pattern, color, density, porosity indicators, and scalp visibility.
No Biometric Database: We do NOT collect, store, or create any facial recognition databases, biometric templates, or unique identifiers from your photos.
No Identity Recognition: We do not use facial recognition or any technology to identify you as an individual. Analysis is purely focused on your hair characteristics.
Voluntary Upload: You explicitly choose which photos to upload, and photo library or camera access requires your permission through iOS settings.
How We Use Your Photos
Purpose: Photos are used exclusively to generate a personalized hair analysis and care recommendations.
Processing Flow:
1. You select or capture a photo within the app
2. Image is optimized for transmission (compressed to max 1024px)
3. Image is sent via encrypted HTTPS to third-party AI providers
4. AI analyzes hair features and returns results in text/JSON format
5. Analysis results are displayed on your device
6. Image is immediately and permanently deleted from all systems
Processing Duration: Images exist in temporary memory for approximately 5–15 seconds during active analysis only.
No Secondary Use: Images are NEVER used for advertising, marketing, AI model training, facial recognition, or any purpose other than your requested hair analysis.
Where Your Photos Are Stored
On Your Device: Images exist only in temporary device memory (RAM) during the active analysis session. They are NEVER written to device storage, cached, or saved to the file system.
On Our Servers: We operate NO backend servers. We have no infrastructure to store, archive, or retain your images.
Third-Party APIs: Images are transmitted via encrypted HTTPS directly from your device to AI APIs. They process images transiently and do not permanently store them on our behalf.
iCloud/Backups: Images are never saved in a way that would be included in device backups or iCloud sync.
Photo Retention Period
Retention Duration: ZERO — No retention whatsoever
Timeline Breakdown:
• 0–3 seconds: Image selected and loaded into device memory
• 3–8 seconds: Image transmitted to AI provider via HTTPS
• 8–15 seconds: AI processing and analysis completion
• 15+ seconds: Image completely cleared from all memory
After Analysis: When you exit the analysis screen or close the app, iOS automatically deallocates all memory, including any temporary image data.
No Persistence: Images are never saved to UserDefaults, CoreData, the file system, or any persistent storage mechanism.
Third-Party Retention: Images are not permanently stored by third-party providers. Any temporary caching is handled according to their respective policies.
Your Rights & Control Over Your Photos
Photo Library Permission: You control whether the app can access your photo library via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos
Camera Permission: You control whether the app can access your camera via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
Voluntary Upload: You choose which specific photos to analyze — we never access your library automatically
No Data Requests Needed: Since we don't store images, there are no photos for us to provide, modify, or delete upon request
Immediate Exit: You can close the app at any time during analysis to immediately stop processing and clear memory
Revoke Permissions: You can revoke camera/photo access permissions at any time in iOS Settings
Security Measures for Photo Data
Transport Encryption: All image transmission uses HTTPS with TLS 1.3 encryption
No Man-in-the-Middle: Direct device-to-API communication prevents intermediary data capture
Memory-Only Processing: Images never touch persistent storage layers (disk, database, file system)
Automatic Deallocation: iOS automatically clears memory when objects are no longer referenced
What Data We DO NOT Collect

About Hair Type AI
Our app uses advanced artificial intelligence to analyze your hair from a photo and deliver a comprehensive, personalized hair care report. The analysis covers:
Identifies your curl pattern and hair type (straight, wavy, curly, coily)
Texture, density, porosity, and overall hair structure analysis
Evaluates damage levels, moisture balance, and overall hair condition
Identifies color treatments, chemical processing history, and color health

International Data Transfers
If you use the app from outside the country where our AI provider's servers are located, your image may be temporarily transmitted across international borders for processing.
Temporary Transfer Only: Images are only transferred for the duration of processing (5–15 seconds)
Encrypted Transit: All international transfers use end-to-end HTTPS encryption
No Storage: No data is stored in any international location
Immediate Deletion: Photos are deleted immediately after processing regardless of geographic location
Trusted Partners: Third-party AI partners operate globally with enterprise-grade data protection standards

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Right to Know: Since we don't collect or store personal information or photos, there is no personal data for us to disclose

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Age Restriction: Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect photos or any personal information from children under 13.
Parental Responsibility: If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this app, please contact us immediately. We will verify and ensure any data is deleted.
No Data Collection from Minors: We do not target or market to children, and we have no mechanism to verify age since we collect no user data.
Age 13–17: Users aged 13–17 should have parental consent before using this app.
